Epidemiology

Contagion is one of my favorite movies that focuses on the spread of an infectious disease within a population. It is extremely thorough and eye-opening, it also touches on a lot of interesting topics and common situations that arise during an outbreak. People are afraid and anxious, and people also become extremely irrational at times. Something that I also found interesting in this movie was the quarantine. In a real life situation, that is an extremely anxiety-ridden situation to be in. People do not know how to respond to being enclosed in an area that has a high-risk infection rate. It is not easy to navigate through every-day life when outbreaks occur. I think that this movie does an extremely excellent job of detailing the events and circumstances that build over days, months, and years concerning an outbreak.
