Hello, since we are working to accommodate those of you taking Public Health in Practice concurrently with Introduction to Public Health, the added component will be to engage in discussion on this board.
Tentatively: you will come here to post a discussion about the film and the guest speaker. The video recordings of these class meetings should be available to you (link will be provided if you do not already have it).
--you must start at least one discussion thread about the film and one about the guest speaker. (or two threads that combine them)
--you must respond at least 6 times total to other's threads or comments (for each 2 week film/guest speaker dyad). All of your responses shouldn't be only on the film or only on the guest speaker.
To be clear, to receive credit for posting, you must provide a substantive response. "I agree completely" does not add anything. You must work to move the discussion forward. "I agree, and I will add X, Y, & Z..." or "I disagree because ..." will appropriately fulfill your posting requirements.
Let me add, keep discussion conversational to the extent you can. If you write 3 pages (or copy & paste your response paper), probably no one wants to read it all. A solid 3-5 sentence paragraph should make your point very well. A response might take only 2-3 sentences to be substantive (and similarly, a 6 sentence paragraph might not be substantive at all).
Please respond to this message and introduce yourself below. I am going to start another thread where you ask questions about the format or the course.
I think it will make the most sense to register a name for your posting. Just remember you won't get credit for posting if you post anonymously and don't sign your name.
